Overview
The Earthkeepers project was funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, and carried out through The Highland Institute. The study concentrated on two main areas: the Khiamniungan area in Noklak and the Pochury community in Meluri. The research examined local observations of changing weather and climate, agricultural practices and seasonal cycles, conservation knowledge, belief systems, adaptation and resistance to climate change, and the relationships between environmental knowledge, ritual, cosmology, and festivals.
